Wonder Woman 1984 (Official Trailer)

It’s here! Our first real look at Patty Jenkins’ sequel to what is arguably the most crowd-pleasing movie to come out of the DC Universe. As the title suggests, Wonder Woman 1984 flashes forward quite a few decades from the khaki drab WWII setting of the first film to a much brighter and more colourful time.

What’s the movie actually about? We have no idea. But given that it takes place in an era that has come to be defined by big hair, yuppies, punk rock, Hulk Hogan, Ronald Reagan, the Cold War, and a certain George Orwell novel, the possibilities as to where this movie could go are endless.

What we do know, however, is that Kristen Wiig joins the cast as The Cheetah – one of Wonder Woman’s most iconic foes (she first appeared all the way back in 1943 in Wonder Woman #6) – and that we actually get to see Pedro Pascal’s face in this one (when’s the mask coming off Mando?).

Oh, and Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor. And he’s got a fanny pack!

I know what you’re thinking. Didn’t we last see Steve Trevor heroically die in a fiery plane explosion that was used as a motivating personal tragedy for our protagonist? Pish. Who cares. Check out this awesome remixed version of Blue Monday instead. Look at Wonder Woman in her Golden Eagle armour from Kingdom Come. Here she is swinging across lighting bolts with her Golden Lasso like motherfuckin’ Tarzan.

Wait. Are they flying around in her Invisible Jet?

How hyped are you about Wonder Woman 1984 after watching this trailer?

Wonder Woman 1984 hits our screens on June 2020.

Uma has been reviewing things for most of his life: movies, television shows, books, video games, his mum's cooking, Bahir's fashion sense. He is a firm believer that the answer to most questions can be found within the cinematic canon. In fact, most of what he knows about life he learned from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. He still hasn't forgiven Christopher Nolan for the travesties that are Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises.
