A juvenile court judge who detests young offenders? What could possibly go wrong? That is the basic premise of Netflix’s brand new K-drama in which Kim Hye-soo’s plays Judge Shim Eun-seok, a woman who is not a fan of South Korea’s juvenile protection laws which say that offenders 13 and younger will only get a few years in juvenile detention, and absolutely no prison time, even for offenses like murder. It is a ripped-from-the-headlines story that is ripe for a television drama. But does this show successfully pull it off?
