The Goggler Podcast #121: What Can We Say to Make You Idiots Watch Succession?

Dept. of Jibbers, Jabbers, and Yackety-Yaks

This one is long overdue. But three seasons and 29 episodes later, we finally get around to talking about HBO’s Succession. Is it as good as everyone says it is? Has Jesse Armstrong created the spiritual successor to The Sopranos? On this episode of The Goggler Podcast, Uma finally convinces Bahir to give Succession a try. One 10 hour binge later, Bahir is more than convinced as to its genius. They talk about how every character is an asshole. They ponder why they love the show as much as they do. And why you need to be in the right state of mind in order to get hooked.

HBO’s Succession centers on the Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of Waystar RoyCo, a global media and entertainment conglomerate, who are fighting for control of the company amid uncertainty about the health of the family’s patriarch, Logan Roy.

Succession was created by Jesse Armstrong and stars Hiam Abbass, Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Parker Sawyers, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, Rob Yang, Dagmara Domińczyk, Arian Moayed, J. Smith-Cameron, Justine Lupe, David Rasche, and Fisher Stevens.
