The Continental: We Speak to Executive Producer Basil Iwanyk

In an alternate reality 1970’s New York, a young Winston Scott is unwittingly dragged into a vast conspiracy triggered by his estranged brother’s raid on The Continental Hotel; he must help him escape Cormac, the sadistic gangster who runs the hotel, who will stop at nothing to retrieve a stolen coin press. In this Goggler exclusive, we speak to Basil Iwanyk, the executive producer of The Continental and the John Wick movies, about the initial idea that sparked the series, casting the show’s Winston Scott, and that other upcoming spinoff, The Ballerina.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick is a the three-part event that explores the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centrepiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his throne.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick was developed by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons with Albert Hughes directing episodes one and three, and Charlotte Brändström directing episode two. Basil Iwanyk serves as the executive producer. The series stars Colin Woodell, Mel Gibson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, Katie McGrath, and Ray McKinnon.

Episodes 1 and 2 of The Continental: From the World of John Wick is out now on Prime Video. The third and final episode premieres on October 6.
