Red Notice is everything we’ve come to expect from a Netflix “blockbuster.” It’s got all of the elements that the streamer has exploited over the years in order to get eyeballs. Hollywood A-listers. Globetrotting adventures. High octane action. Some occasional comedic hijinks. For its 115 minute runtime, Red Notice is capital “F” Fun. (You can read our full review of the movie here.)
We recently got the chance to sit down for a chat with Rawson Marshall Thurber, the writer and director of Red Notice, to talk about his influences, what it was like working with Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, and what it would take to get Red Notice 2 greenlit.
When an Interpol-issued Red Notice – the highest level warrant to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted – goes out, the FBI’s top profiler John Hartley is on the case. His global pursuit finds him smack dab in the middle of a daring heist where he’s forced to partner with the world’s greatest art thief Nolan Booth in order to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, “The Bishop.” The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other’s company.
Red Notice is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, Skyscraper) and stars Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, Ritu Arya, and Chris Diamantopolous.
