Prey, the brand new prequel to Predator might just be the best one in the franchise since the 1987 original. Set in 1719 in the Comanche Nation, the movie tells the story of Naru, a young Comanche trying to find her place in the world, all while being hunted by a Predator. We got the chance to sit down with director Dan Trachtenberg and producer Jhane Myers to talk about the fundamentals of Prey, the use of language, and where this sits within the Predator universe.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to prove herself a worthy hunter. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien Predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope, and Dane DiLiegro as the Predator.

Prey is out on Disney Plus Hotstar in Malaysia and Hulu in the United States on August 5.
