Ms. Marvel: We Speak With the Leader of the Red Daggers, Farhan Akhtar

Dept. of Chats and Confabs

Ms. Marvel continues to delight! In Episode 4, we’re taken to Karachi and introduced to the Red Daggers, and their leader, Waleed, portrayed by Indian actor, director, screenwriter, and producer Farhan Akhtar. In this chat, we spoke to Farhan Akhtar about why Ms. Marvel is important for the rest of the world, and what it was like seeing Iman Vellani work up close.

Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination – particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home – that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?

Ms. Marvel was created by Bisha K. Ali and stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
