Disney Plus adds a new feather in its cap by putting the monsters to work in this new addition to the Monsters, Inc. cinematic universe. Monsters at Work brings our favourite scarers back, this time on the small screen, with an all new series, and some all new monsters. We speak to Ben Feldman about what it was like stepping into the Monsters, Inc. universe and what the show’s themes mean in the 21st century.
Monsters at Work takes place the day after the Monsters, Inc. power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Inc. and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a jokester.
Monsters at Work stars Ben Feldman as Tylor Tuskman, and adds Mindy Kaling, Henry Winkler, Lucas Neff, and Alanna Ubac. Original cast members John Goodman and Billy Crystal return as Sulley and Mike.
