Madame Web: We Spoke to Director S.J. Clarkson

Dept. of Chats and Confabs

Madame Web, Sony’s latest superhero effort, is now in cinemas and we got the chance to speak to some of its cast and crew. In this Goggler exclusive, we sat down with Madame Web director S.J. Clarkson to talk about the ’90s psychological thriller vibes she was going for and whether or not superhero universe fatigue is real.

We also spoke to Madame Web herself, Dakota Johnson, here.

Madame Web is out in Malaysian cinemas on February 14.

In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future… and realizes she can use that insight to change it. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for powerful destinies… if they can all survive a deadly present.

Madame Web is directed by S.J. Clarkson and stars Dakota Johnson, Sidney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.
