Incantation, Taiwan’s highest grossing horror film, came to Netflix with a bang. Inspired by a true story, The movie, which is about Li Ronan and her cursed daughter, Dodo, brings the found footage horror form back to 2022.

In this Goggler exclusive, we sat down with director Kevin Ko and Incantation‘s two stars Tsai Hsuan-yen and Kao Ying-hsuan to talk about the movie’s inspirations, bringing back found footage horror, and working with Huang Sin-ting.

Six years ago, Li Ronan was cursed after breaking a religious taboo. Now, she must protect her daughter from the consequences of her actions. This found footage film is inspired by a true story. It’s critically acclaimed too, with seven Taipei Film Award nominations (including Best Narrative Feature and Best Director). Preparations for a sequel, also directed by Ko, are already in progress.

Incantation is now streaming on Netflix.
