Despite its trailer, or its director, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant isn’t just another “one man against the Taliban” movie. Guy Ritchie portrays two men, thrust together by war and forced to take hard decisions in order to keep their promise to each other. In this Goggler exclusive, we sat down with stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim to talk about making a modern day western, bringing personal history to their roles, and working with great directors.

You can listen to our review of the movie here.

The Covenant follows US Army Sergeant John Kinley and Afghan interpreter Ahmed. After an ambush, Ahmed goes to Herculean lengths to save Kinley’s life. When Kinley learns that Ahmed and his family were not given safe passage to America as promised, he must repay his debt by returning to the war zone to retrieve them before the Taliban hunts them down first.

The Covenant was directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Dar Salim, Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr, Bobby Schofield, Emily Beecham, and Jonny Lee Miller.
