Between Jack Ryan, Reacher, Cross, and The Terminal List, Prime Video seems to have cornered the market on dadcore action thrillers. Countdown, which is a 24-esque procedural, does exactly what it says on the tin and is a true guilty pleasure. In this Goggler exclusive, we speak to Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane about what it means to have fewer episodes on streaming television and how this show’s format delivers a sense of urgency.
Countdown premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday 25 June.
When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate. But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.
Countdown is created by showrunner and executive producer Derek Haas and stars Jensen Ackles, Eric Dane, Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Uli Latukefu.
