Cars on the Road: We Speak to Bobby Podesta and Marc Sondheimer

Lightning McQueen and Mater are back! Cars on the Road is the upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar series set in PIXAR’s Cars universe, where our four wheeled heroes find themselves on a road trip across America for Mater’s sister’s wedding. Yes, Mater has a sister. And yes, Cars get married.

In this Goggler exclusive, we got the chance to sit down with one of the directors of the series, Bobby Podesta, and the series producer, Marc Sondheimer, to talk about the work that they do and the Disney cartoons that inspired them as kids.

Pixar Animation Studios returns to the world of Cars with the all-new original series. Episodes follow Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his best friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as they head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister. Along the way, every stop is its own adventure, with outrageous roadside attractions and colorful new characters. 

Cars on the Road is directed by Steve Purcell, Bobby Podesta, and Brian Fee, and produced by Marc Sondheimer.

All episodes of Cars on the Road premiere on Disney Plus Day, September 8, on Disney Plus Hotstar in Malaysia and Disney Plus in the United States.
