Boston Strangler: We Speak to Chris Cooper

Dept. of Chats and Confabs

//

During the early 1960s, 13 women were killed by one of America’s most notorious serial killers. Boston Strangler tells the story of Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole, two reporters that challenged the sexism of the era, pursuing the story at great personal risk, and uncovering the systemic corruption that cast doubt on the identity of the strangler.

In this Goggler Exclusive, we sat down with the legendary Chris Cooper to talk feature film newspaper editors and what he’s learned from repeatedly working with director John Sayles.

Reporter Loretta McLaughlin becomes the first person to connect a series of murders and break the story of the Boston Strangler. She and Jean Cole challenge the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer.

Boston Strangler is an American historical crime drama film written and directed by Matt Ruskin. The film stars Keira Knightley as Loretta McLaughlin. Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, Chris Cooper, David Dastmalchian, and Morgan Spector also star.

Boston Strangler premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on Friday March 17.
