29 years after the original, Happy finds himself facing financial troubles again, and has to return to the course to confront his past, the future of golf, and the end of the sport as we know it. Happy Gilmore 2 sees the return of familiar faces, and a lot of new ones, as Happy returns to the course and tries to find his new (age appropriate) happy place. In this Goggler exclusive, we spoke to director Kyle Newacheck about taking on a 29 year old comedy classic and the secret sauce behind making a movie like this work.
Happy Gilmore 2 premieres on Netflix on Friday, July 25.
Nearly 30 years ago, Happy Gilmore decided to give golf a try. And now, twenty-nine years after winning his first Tour Championship, retired golfer Happy Gilmore returns to the sport to pay for his daughter Vienna’s ballet school. Happy Gilmore 2 was directed by Kyle Newachek and stars Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Blake Clark, Ben Stiller, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Benny Safdie, and Sandler’s daughters Sunny and Sadie.
