Fresh out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, comes Suncoast, a twist on the clichéd coming-of-age story where growing up comes with dealing with death. In this Goggler exclusive, we spoke to the writer and director of Suncoast, Laura Chinn, and the movie’s star, Nico Parker, about autobiographical storytelling, creating characters, and working with Hollywood legends.
Suncoast is now streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar in Malaysia, and on Hulu in the United States.
Inspired by the semi-autobiographical story of a teenager who, while caring for her brother along with her audacious mother, strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist who is protesting one of the most landmark medical cases of all time.
Suncoast was written and directed by Laura Chinn and stars Laura Linney, Nico Parker, Matt Walsh, Keyla Monterosso Mejia, Scott MacArthur, Ella Anderson, Daniella Taylor, Amarr, Ariel Martin, and Woody Harrelson.
