The much-awaited Japanese Film Festival is making its comeback in 2023, running from 7th September to 15th October at selected GSC cinemas across Malaysia. It promises to deliver the finest selection of Japanese cinema on the grand screen for everyone’s delight. 

Now in its 19th year, this annual event features over 16 captivating titles across genres like drama, documentary, romance, mystery and animation, immersing audiences in diverse aspects of Japanese culture. This year’s festival opens with the feature Small, Slow but Steady (2022), a cinematic masterpiece by acclaimed director Sho Miyake. This year’s festival will also feature the digitally remastered edition of Lupin III: Third The Castle of Cagliostro (1979). This iconic masterpiece marks the first feature film from the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, whose illustrious career includes timeless animated classics like My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and many more from Studio Ghibli.
