The late 20th century was a wild, and simpler time. The Beanie Bubble tells the (somewhat fictionalized) story of the women behind Ty Warner, the creator of the wildly successful, and wildly short-lived, Beanie Baby. In this Goggler exclusive, we sat down with directors Kristin Gore and Damian Kulash to talk about the women, behind the man, behind the under-stuffed posable collectible known as the Beanie Baby.

Why did the world suddenly treat stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner was a frustrated toy salesman until his collaboration with three women grew his masterstroke of an idea into the biggest toy craze in history. The Beanie Bubble is an inventive story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names didn’t appear on the heart-shaped tag.

The Beanie Bubble is a new Apple Original Film that was co-directed by Emmy Award-nominee Kristin Gore and Grammy Award-winner Damian Kulash. The movie stars Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook, and Geraldine Viswanathan.

The Beanie Bubble is out now on Apple TV Plus.
