The Goggler Podcast #281: Shantaram

Dept. of Jibbers, Jabbers, and Yackety-Yaks

Today, on The Goggler Podcast, Bahir and Uma watch and review the long awaited adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ Shantaram. Was it worth the wait? Does it work better as a TV series than it would have as a movie? Is Charlie Hunnam reason enough to watch this series?

Shantaram is now streaming on Apple TV Plus.

Based on the internationally best-selling novel by Gregory David Roberts, “Shantaram” follows a fugitive named Lin Ford looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.

Shantaram was created by Steve Lightfoot and Eric Warren Singer and stars Charlie Hunnam, Fayssal Bazzi, Sujaya Dasgupta, Antonia Desplat, Elektra Kilbey, Shubham Saraf, and Alexander Siddig.
