Selena + Chef is a new reality TV cooking show featuring some of your favourite master chefs teaching Selena Gomez, yes, that Selena Gomez, how to cook and work her way around her own kitchen.

In this Goggler exclusive, we speak to producer and show creator, Aaron Saidman, about what it was like working on this remote show during the pandemic and how nervous he got every time Selena Gomez had to use a knife.

Since social distancing at home, Selena Gomez has been spending more time in the kitchen than she ever imagined. But despite her many talents, it remains to be seen if cooking is one of them. In each episode of this unapologetically authentic cook along, Gomez, with the support of her Quaranteam, will be joined remotely by a different master chef. Together, they will tackle cuisines of every variety, share invaluable tips and tricks, and deal with everything from smoking ovens to missing ingredients. Each episode will highlight a food-related charity, and this casual, funny, and informative series will embrace both the struggle and the joy of learning to cook — while inviting audiences to follow along at home.

The world-renowned chefs featured during the first season include Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Jon & Vinny, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, Nyesha Arrington, Roy Choi, and Tonya Holland. The roster of all-star chefs in the second season include Aarti Sequeira, Curtis Stone, Evan Funke, Graham Elliot, JJ Johnson, Jordan Andino, José Andrés, Kelis Rogers, Marcela Valladolid and Marcus Samuelsson.

The first two seasons of the HBO Max Original Selena + Chef will premiere in Asia exclusively on HBO GO from August 12.

Bahir likes to review movies because he can watch them at special screenings and not have to interact with large groups of people who may not agree with his idea of what a movie going experience is. Bahir likes jazz, documentaries, Ken Burns, and summer blockbuster movies. He really hopes that the HBO MAX Green Lantern series will help the character be cool again. Also don’t get him started on Jason Momoa’s Aquaman (#NotMyArthurCurry).
